relationship building games for the art room

Peer relationship building games for the art room:
Famous artists Pictionary:  Divide the class in 5 groups.  Have the students pick a person to be the “artist” that will draw the famous picture.  Have this student stand facing the group and place a small whiteboard on an easel for the student to draw the famous piece of art given to them by the teacher on a small index card.  Give all the artists 3 minutes to draw the famous artworks.  The group they are facing will guess and come up with the name in under a minute.  The group with the shortest time to guess the famous piece wins.
Christmas card in class exchange: Recycle old Christmas cards by having the students cut the pictures and paste them on a colored paper.  Students are to write something nice about a person in their class (or a teacher may write all the names on a folded paper and hand them out).  Students will give the cards to the classmate during the holiday party.
Build a picture:  All students are seated in a circular pattern and have a blank paper in front of them.  Each student is asked to draw a shape, item, or design.  Students are given 1 minute and then they rotate all the pictures to the right.  Students will begin again on the paper handed to them from the right… analyzing what the student before drew and what they could add to the new picture.  Again, after the minute is over all students will pass the picture to the right.  When students receive their starting picture (the one with their name) they add color.  This is a fun way to add on others ideas.
Illustrate a mini book:  A large paper is rolled on a cafeteria table.  The paper should be about 4 feet long with the 3 to 4 students seated facing the paper.  Students make up a story by looking at examples at their table.  The student seated to the left will draw the title page and the introduction, the student in the middle does 2 pages about the stories climax, and the student on the end wraps up the story and does the final page.
Self portrait:  Students will be given oil pastels to draw a picture of themselves.  Students will be asked to choose the color of their hair, eyes, and skin tone.  Students will write their name on the back of the paper and turn it in to the teacher.  Students will guess who the classmate is and if the picture is of them they much remain quiet.
